ONE DAY. ONE BROTHERHOOD.
Thank you to the 2,226 donors who raised a record-breaking $413,432 for Beta's third annual Giving Day Challenge.
A complete list of Betas, parents and friends who made this special event such an overwhelming success in 2022 can be viewed here.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Giving Day Challenge is 24 straight hours celebrating brotherhood within Beta Theta Pi, while also earning a few extra bucks for the Beta Leadership Fund – the Beta Foundation’s primary way of supporting undergraduates and the award-winning Men of Principle initiative.
The Challenge is open to all Betas, Beta Sweethearts, Friends of Beta, parents and anyone else who wants to get in on the competition or help unlock one of several generous challenge gifts!
In the spirit of friendly competition, chapters will compete throughout the day based on both total dollars raised and number of donors. Chapters that come up victorious will receive special recognition prizes (stay tuned to Beta’s social media channels for more on that).
A couple of rules to keep things fair:
- There will be two winners, (1) the chapter with the most unique individual donors, and (2) the chapter raising the most dollars.
- Competitions end at 12:01 a.m. PDT on April 27.
- Donors must give a minimum of $5 to be counted and may only be credited for a chapter once.
While we know all donors give out of their love for Beta Theta Pi, we get it - a prize sounds nice, too. For 2022, the winners of the chapter competitions for most total donors and dollars raised will receive:
- A fall tailgate party complete with FREE food prepared by professional chefs, courtesy of Giving Day Challenge sponsors College Fresh and Greek House Chefs.
- The chapter's name prominently memorialized on a plaque in the Administrative Office.
Your Giving Day Challenge gift directly benefits Beta's nearly 9,500 undergraduates, not only by supporting the ever-important Men of Principle Initiative, but by promoting student access and affordability to the privileges of our brotherhood with ...
... more than $100,000 in affordability scholarships for members
... travel reimbursements for students attending certain in-person leadership programs
... increased funding for recruitment support and recruitment scholarships
Gifts made during the Giving Day Challenge are special in a few ways. First, they’ll be posted in near real-time on our Giving Day Challenge Dashboard where they’ll help your preferred chapter advance on the leaderboards. They'll also help unlock special matching gifts throughout the day, meaning your participation in the Challenge stands to make a bigger impact than any other day of the year!
Giving Day Challenge participation is mostly limited to gifts made on that one specific day (or earmarked ahead of time specifically for the occasion).
The only exception is for undergraduates who join the Sons of the Dragon Club. Any Club gifts made on or before the day of the Challenge are counted as part of the Giving Day totals.
While we promise Beta’s online platform is secure (and did we mention simple?), we understand some supporters prefer to give the old-fashioned way.
Staff members are always available to accept your gift over the phone at 800.800.BETA. To make your gift via mail and have it count toward the Giving Day Challenge, it must arrive at the address below by April 26. Please make checks payable to the Beta Foundation, indicating in the memo line your gift is for the Giving Day Challenge.

It sure is. All gifts made to the Beta Foundation, during the Giving Day Challenge or otherwise, support educational opportunities for Beta Theta Pi undergraduates and are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. You will receive an email receipt/mailed letter shortly after you make a gift that you can save for tax records.
We’re so glad you asked! Because the Giving Day Challenge is a purely digital effort, that means you can (and will) play a significant role in its ultimate success. Make sure you’re following Beta on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more information on the 2022 Giving Day Challenge and how you can get involved!
Ugh. We’ve failed you. Sorry about that. Feel free to contact Chief Foundation Officer, Phil Fernandez, by email or phone (800.800.BETA) and we promise to fill in any gaps we may have missed here.
