Purpose of position:
Beta Theta Pi Fraternity is seeking qualified candidates to serve as a Director of Volunteer Services. This position is responsible for:
- Cultivate, recruit, and appoint chapter counselors for chapters within assigned portfolios, determined by the Chief Volunteer Services Officer.
- Serve as the primary contact for potential and current volunteers within a certain area of Beta’s Broad Domain.
- Assist in the creation and execution of volunteer-centered support programs for the Fraternity.

The Director of Volunteer Services is based out of Beta’s Administrative Office in Oxford, Ohio, and remote employment will be considered. The position requires evening and weekend work and regular travel.Beta offers a competitive salary and benefits package that includes travel reimbursement and housing.
The Fraternity plans to screen and interview candidates through August and confirm a hire no later than early September. The desired start date for the position is September 26, 2022 (or as soon thereafter as is reasonable).

Chapter Services
Purpose of position:
Beta Theta Pi Fraternity is seeking qualified candidates to serve as Associate Director of Leadership and Education. This position is responsible for:
- Assisting the Director of Leadership and Education in department management and planning, with special emphasis paid to specific department-wide processes/procedures: communication, intern staffing, hotel/property selection and program management.
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day communication, implementation and adoption of Beta’s member orientation program, Son of the Stars. This includes managing the New Member Education Assessment certification process for all other chapters.
- Overseeing the development and curriculum design for the collection of in-person and virtual education and training programs. This includes management of the live event as well as the update process for printed materials, oversight of any curriculum vendors that support specific topics and management of assessment tools that measure officer growth and development.
- Collaborating with the Volunteer Services Department in the development and offering of volunteer educational events and identifying trainings that are interactive and meet the needs of multiple audiences.
- Serving as an administrator for Beta’s learning management system, including working with the department to assess the usage of the resources and materials, developing and designing online learning modules that are consistent with current trends and practices in e-learning, and overseeing reporting and assessment of learning.

Purpose of position:
This chapter development consultant position fosters strong relationships with chapters, volunteers and universities within a region while providing coaching on operations, organizational development and General Fraternity initiatives. This person assists members and communities in the form of operational assessment and support, administrative support, leadership development, expansion and education through the promotion of the principles and obligations of our Fraternity.

This chapter development consultant position works to establish a sustainable, new chapter by focusing on volunteer support, member recruitment and onsite chapter development. This person is responsible for recruiting a re/founding father class, educating the chapter on the principles of the fraternity, training an advisory team, providing operational assistance and ensuring the chapter's long-term success.

Requirements:
- Member of Beta Theta Pi
- Clear understanding of Beta Theta Pi’s Mission, Vision and Ritual.
- Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Demonstrated leadership within the Fraternity and/or student organizations
- Desire for extensive travel and relocation to Oxford, Ohio
- Ownership or full access to an insured vehicle
- Professional conduct and appearance*
*Conservative business attire is the standard dress code for the office. Both business casual and business professional attire will also be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the General Fraternity’s key “ambassador” within a region fostering strong relationships with chapters, volunteers and universities.
- Strengthen communication within your region and report on the current state of chapter operations to all constituencies (chapter, volunteers, university, staff, etc.)
- Support the overall efforts and programs of the Fraternity by attending various inter-fraternal meetings, facilitating leadership experiences, conducting tours of the Administrative Office, assisting with the planning, preparation and execution of the annual General Convention, etc.
- Serve as the contact between the Administrative Office and all regional constituents regarding nearly all Fraternity matters.
- Serve as an operational “expert” on policies, best practices and traditions of the Fraternity and coach chapters, volunteers and universities to improve.
- Gather and positively influence the regional statistics and performance of chapters and be the point person for all relevant information.
- Facilitate in-depth goal-setting/programming sessions with chapters, working with officers, members, advisors and the university to assess, plan and motivate.
- Drive the recruitment, placement and coaching of advisors and district chiefs to effectively perform their duties.
- Develop resources, programs, workshops and presentations for use in assisting their constituencies, and train other staff members on their purpose, use and distribution/presentation.
- Serve as a “project manager” – developing project plans and managing their implementation according to dates, guidelines and expectations.
- Assist with the expansion and chapter development process including (re)founding father recruitment, operations, advisor training and member education.
- Executing a wide variety of tasks to support General Fraternity programming (leadership development opportunities, Convention, etc…)
- Recruit men to General Fraternity leadership experiences.
- Play a role in both the recruitment and hiring process of potential General Fraternity employees as required, specifically future chapter operations specialists.
- Plan and execute projects assigned within the strategic direction of Beta Theta Pi.

John Hubbard:
- I joined staff because I wanted to give back to the organization that helped shape me. My undergrad experience helped me develop, and I wanted to give that same opportunity to men across the United States.
- I got out of it more than I thought possible. In terms of hard skills, I became a better public speaker, improved my writing, and learned how to manage different types of people. For soft skills, traveling the country and developing relationship with people all over helped me be able to relate to almost anyone and become more adaptable in new situations. In addition to learning marketable skills, I met some of my best friends. I've stood in other staff member's weddings, and I expect they'll stand in mine as well. Even though we don't live close to one another, they're the people that will be there for all of life's biggest moments.
- I recommend it because it is constantly putting you in situations where you can develop and grow. Everyone understands that this is not the final destination, so people always try to make sure the experience adds value. It is a strong community that will both support and challenge you.
- I'm in law school at Vanderbilt University and planning to work for a big firm in Austin upon graduation.
Trevor Voss:
- Beta was the single most foundational leadership and social experience in my life up to that point. The opportunity to continue and build upon that while also giving back to an organization I loved was too good to pass up.
- The skills you learn on Beta Staff are numerous and in some ways ineffable. I sometimes like to describe it as a “Swiss army knife” set of skills. With a small Organization like Beta you are immediately thrown into the fire and given meaningful and impactful work. Furthermore, you are asked to wear a lot of hats. Sometimes you are a recruiter, sometimes a teacher, sometimes a project or program manager. The International scope of Beta and the resource constraints we face meant that oftentimes you are allowed to get way out of your swim-lane, and flex muscles that you wouldn’t be allowed to at a fortune 500. Furthermore, the relationships you make are incredible. Not only are staff members some of my best friends (I have been to numerous staff weddings over the years) but relationships with volunteers and students last as well. There is hardly a city in the country that I visit for work or vacation that there isn’t a Beta contact I can look up.
- For those who aren’t sure where they want to go in their professional lives, Beta is the ideal experience. For those looking to expand their skill set and life view, Beta is the ideal experience, and for those looking to forge lifelong relationships with incredible people from around North America, Beta is the ideal experience. The development you get on staff as you transition from a college student with a limited worldview to a young professional is priceless. I have seen Staff alumni become entrepreneurs, Professors, lawyers, business-men and the list goes on. Almost all of them would tell you that their experience on staff helped prepare them for the future.
- Post graduating from Vanderbilt with my MBA (2017) I have been involved in the Leadership Development Program at Amazon Web Services in Seattle. My current role is the Project Lead for The Mobile Strike Team. MST is a brand-new group tasked with standing up high profile new teams in AWS through various consulting services. The easiest way to describe it would be that as new groups, programs and products are funded, my group goes in and acts as an accelerator to get things going before passing the project back to the existing business.
